Giveaway Winner, Art By Michelle & Guest Series Funness

Yup, I just said funness.

And no, you are not reading that wrong... yours truly authored a masterpiece last night.
And by masterpiece, I mean the most hilarious little painting I've ever seen.
To celebrate one of my girlfriends' birthdays last night, our friends went to a "sip and strokes" place. The gist of it is that everyone brings in a few bottles of wine and they teach you how to paint while you sip! We really had a blast! Last night's painting class was a wine bottle- I had no clue how difficult it would be to get the shape of the wine bottle right! We laughed the entire time as each of our masterpieces came to be. Here's my end result.

I will now start the auction of this masterpiece at... free?
How about please get this thing out of my house?

Only kidding. If you haven't been to a sip and strokes party before, you should go! It was too much fun. The perfect way to celebrate a birthday!

Sonoma, San Fran and Scary Streets... Oh My!

Hi friends! Happy Friday! Exactly a week ago today, my sister and I were in San Francisco. I've already shared about our bike ride across the Golden Gate Bridge and the big blogger meet up at the San Francisco Design Center, but my favorite part of the vacation?

Our day trip into Sonoma.

It was an absolutely gorgeous day (we were so blessed to have incredible weather the entire trip!). Tori and I also got lucky in the form of my dear friend Kate, who mapped out her local's perspective on how to spend a day in the Sonoma valley. Her advice was spot on and we had the best time.

On Saturday, we were lucky enough to have another beautiful day. Tori and I met up with Michaela for a day of adventures in the city.

First stop? The Ferry Building Market (thank you, Jacin for the advice to visit the market!).

We also spent some time shopping in Pacific Heights and lunching with another blogger, Kelly! We had so much fun exploring that part of town and spending some time with Kelly- she is the sweetest and has some amazing travel stories!

Then Michaela decided to drive Tori and I down Lombard Street- the most crooked street in the world! I had full faith in M's driving skills, but I will have to tell you... those hills and those turns are SCARY!

I was a liiiitle nervous... but we made it down safely! : )

So that's our trip to San Francisco, in a nutshell! I think we did a great job of hitting all of the highlights the beautiful city  has to offer. And I can promise you, we had enough fun and laughs to last us for awhile!

I'm really happy to be over at two other amazing blogs today!

Rhoda has sweetly featured my house tour on her blog and Blair (who just had a baby!) has me guest posting on a few of my favorite things (here's a hint: I wanna be a princess). Please stop by and say hi!

Also, I decided to leave the Blessed Graphic Design giveaway open until midnight tonight...
 lots of chances to enter!!

San Fran Vacay

I've already shared one part of my trip to San Francisco last week- the blogger meet up!

But the main reason that I headed to Cali last week was for a vacation with my little sister, Tori (she just started her teacher blog, so drop by and say hi!). At 23, she had never been on an airplane... so I decided it was high time that I made that happen! I gave her two options- New York or California? And she chose Cali! So off to San Francisco we went. And we had a ball.

Here are some of the pics from the first half of our trip, running around the city.

And yes, we did all of this (along with the blog meet up!) in less than 48 hours. We were busy girls, but loved every minute of it. Tomorrow I'll share pictures from the rest of our amazing adventures in San Francisco (and Sonoma!). The last two days were actually my favorite days of the trip. What are your favorite parts of San Fran?

Don't forget to enter the Blessed Graphic Design giveaway! It ends tomorrow night!

My Blog Birthday!

Guess what happened a year ago today?

I was more or less scared out of my mind to start blogging. Honestly, I thought it was kind of weird. What kind of crazies post pictures and details about their projects, their home and their lives?
This crazy. And I love every. single. minute. of. it!

It actually took me about a month to tell my closest friends that I had started a blog. And about six months after that before I told all of my other friends and family. Do you know who gave me the courage to share my blog with all of those people? All of you. Seriously! It was the love and support from all of you crazy kids that truly pushed me, kept me going and left me inspired. Blogging is truly one of the most supportive communities I've ever seen- this group constantly and consistently addresses each other from hundreds or even thousands of miles away with the sweetest, kindest and most genuine comments ever.

I'd like to think that my writing has matured, my content has evolved and my design style has grown. But above all, I know for a fact that I've learned the most about support. And I have definitely learned that from all of you! So thank you, my friends! Thanks to each of you for the last year of sweet words, funny comments, true inspiration and overall support.

Alright, enough with the sappy stuff... basically, you guys rock my world.

I am so excited to see what this next year of blogging holds for me! You can check out most of the last year's projects and the before/after scoop on my House Tour tab. I promise a bunch more projects (potentially a finished master bathroom renovation, but don't hold your breath!), a lot more laughs and hopefully a whole lot more mutual love and support.

Happy blog birthday, Ten June!

PS. Pop over to Michaela's blog today,
where I'm giving away one free e-design to one her her readers!

San Francisco Blogger Meet Up!

Hi friends! After hopping a red eye flight to Atlanta, I'm back in town (tired and hot as I get used to the muggy Georgia heat again!). I had a blast touring San Francisco with my sister and I promise to share all of our fun pictures later this week. And of course, while I was over on the west coast, I met up some amazing blogger friends!

So here's the skinny on our meet up.

Before the meet up, my sister (Tori) and I met up with Michaela, Courtney and Natasha. We had so much fun meeting and catching up in real life- it's as if we've been friends forever!

Anyone check out my HOTT farmers tan? That's what happens when you bike across the Golden Gate Bridge with a short-sleeved t-shirt and no sunscreen on! Um, yes, I would get an awful sunburn (on only 2/3 of my arm) right before I go to meet a room full of strangers with cameras. Awesome!  It's okay, you're laughing with me, not at me... right? : )

The event was generously hosted by Malka of Closet Innovations and Cristin of Simplified Bee at the San Francisco Design Center in downtown San Francisco.

(and thanks to everyone for sharing your pictures with me!)

It was an amazing evening filled with lots of design chat, laughs and friendship.
There were so many amazing, inspiring bloggers and designers there! I felt so blessed to be able to attend. Now we will have to get a big east coast blogger meet up together... who's with me??

Happy Weekend!

Hi friends! Hope you're having a fabulous weekend! We had a blast at the San Francisco blogger meet up- I promise to share lots of pictures next week. Meanwhile, I'm taking full advantage of all this beautiful city has to offer before I head back to Georgia.

What are you up to this weekend?

Coral & Turquoise College Apartment Room E-Design

I've been helping my little sister scheme up some ideas for her new apartment at college. This was one of my favorite designs that we thought up!  She's not allowed to paint the walls and big art isn't exactly in the budget... so my thoughts were to create these chevron panels for behind her bed.

I found inspiration here with these panels.

All it takes is some plywood and some paint (and maybe some mad taping skills!) and you've got high impact, inexpensive art! Can't beat that, especially in a college apartment bedroom.

My sweet little sister is a little on the indecisive side, so who knows if she'll go with this design...
but we sure had fun creating it!

Have you thought of any high impact, inexpensive DIYs lately?
