Swimming With The Sharks

Guess where David and I went over the long holiday weekend? Snorkeling in the Caribbean! Only kidding. Although we did watch the new Pirates of the Caribbean (love me some Johnny Depp). In all reality, we actually went to the Georgia Aquarium which (surprisingly for two Atlanta natives) we had never been to! As you can see from my nine hundred sixteen pictures above, it was incredible.

My favorite parts? The live dolphin show, the colorful fish, the whale shark, the loggerhead turtles (which I could not get a picture of to save my life) and even the scary shark sharks. But for the record, the penguins stole my heart. I'm sure one of them wanted to hop in my purse and come home with me. Can't you just see Tucker and Maggie and Poppie the Penguin all hanging out in my living room?

Humor me. It's a rainy Monday morning after a long holiday weekend....

What fun did you get into over Thanksgiving break?

Pssst! Don't forget that tomorrow kicks off our holiday link party over on Cassie's blog! I'll be sharing my latest Christmas craft here on Ten June and then linking up over on Cassie's blog. Here's the schedule in case you need a little reminder. Can't wait to see your Christmas crafts tomorrow!

Mountain-y Fun

Thanks so much to all of you for my sweet birthday wishes last week! You'll be happy to know that I carried the celebration through the weekend with a little mountain weekend getaway.

David and I popped up to Blue Ridge, Georgia on Thursday and spent the long weekend hiking, eating barbecue, watching the leaves change and enjoying the fabulous cool weather. It was one of the most relaxing weekends that I've had in a long time! But my favorite part? Our gorgeous cabin. It was beauuutiful! And get excited, because lets just say it was worth a Ten June house crashing!

The three bedroom cabin sits right on the Georgia- North Carolina border, smack dab in the middle of the beautiful Blue Ridge mountains. It has three decks, a killer view and a full basement with a pool table and air hockey table. And yes, I kicked David's butt in air hockey : ) Check out my favorite rooms!

Of course, the bear + rustic decor can be a little kitchsy, but it's perfect for a mountain home. I absolutely loved the high ceilings and all of the big, open windows throughout the house. Perfect for seeing the killer mountain views throughout the house. Oh, did I mention that killer view?

Oh yeah. I was in heaven. The perfect birthday weekend!

What were you up to this weekend?

Everbest Market

Wanna hear something cool?

One of my dearest friends, Katelyn and her husband Max, just opened a restaurant in Atlanta. How neat is that?! So neat. And I would love it if all of my lovely readers (especially those located in and around Atlanta!) could help give the new restaurant, Everbest Market, some love!

me & Kate! (please ignore my work clothes... it was a long day!)

Named after Katelyn's grandfather's farm, Everbest Market is a fresh gourmet sandwich shop. Their menu selection is ah-maz-ing (trust me, I stuffed myself on their truffle chicken salad and fried green tomato + goat cheese BLT the other night!) and their location in Decatur is unbeatable.

The menu changes daily, but consists mainly of gourmet sandwiches, salads, soups and homemade desserts. They've also got a daily take home menu, consisting of pre-made meals that you can just grab and pop into your oven, ready to eat! All I have to say is... yum.

Also, Katelyn has an incredible eye for design- she turned the outdated restaurant space into a chic little cafe which fits Everbest Market perfectly. Check out the before and afters!

David was too busy watching the Braves lose to get out of the picture! : )

Everbest Market is located at 3125 Briarcliff Road, near the intersection of Clairmont and Briarcliff. You can learn more about the restaurant, including their daily menu choices, on their Facebook page. Let me know if you stop by! And if you do, be sure to ask for Katelyn and tell her I sent you : )

My Weekend: Fall in the South

How much do you love a beautiful fall weekend? It makes starting the week (especially on a rainy, dreary Monday!) a little bit easier. This weekend, I did so many fun things- spent some amazing quality time with my nieces, watched UGA win against Kentucky (Go Dawgs!), walked away from church Sunday morning filled with joy-- we sang "How Great Is Our God", which is one of my favorites!, and got a lot of things done around the house.

On Saturday, David and I, along with my brother-in-law, Greggory and his girlfriend, Brooke, took our nieces to Jaemor Farms.  The farm has a corn maze, pumpkin patch, tractor hayrides, a food market, and lots of fun games for the kiddos.

Of course, I took a ton of pictures. Here are the twins celebrating a victorious turn in the middle of the corn maze (we let them lead the way, which actually got us through in less than an hour!).

The pumpkin patch.

And here are the sweet little pumpkins we picked out, already out on our front porch steps.

The farmers market part of the farm was definitely my personal favorite.

The market had lots of fun fall gourds.

And, of course, lots of pumpkins of all shapes and sizes.

They had some absolutely beautiful mums.

And ohhhh, the Southern food.

Boiled peanuts.

Fried peach pies.

And yes, the fried peach pie tasted as good as it looks :) We also got some homemade apple butter, which is just perfection on top of a fresh, homemade biscuit.

On the home front, I'm excited to say that I'll have our big reveal pictures of Operation Paint Project: Part One ready tomorrow! I'm so excited to share- our work is finally paying off and we're more than happy with the results so far.

What kind of fun did you get into this weekend?
