The Grass is Always Greener!

...in my yard! I hope you guys don't think I'm literally the most boring blogger in the history of the world, but I am seriously going to talk about grass today. And not the kind we kept getting offered while on our Caribbean vaca last week.

But the kind that made me say HOLY COW when we pulled into the driveway (ie. this is a crappy iPhone pic) after 10 days away. Green grass.

Yes, it's still filled with got some minor weed issues, but my yard is filling in with grass. Holla.

Seriously though, can you blame a girl whose yard used to look like this just one short year ago?

Exactly, you love it too. So I get to be that weird girl who blogs about grass.

I was really flipping excited when we got home to this. I even jumped up and down and said WHAT THE FESCUE!!!!! Okay, maybe I'm going a little overboard, but as you saw here, our front yard is rocking it this spring!

We were told to let the little baby grass grow in, so we can't cut it for awhile. Yessssss, we get to be those people in the neighborhood who don't cut their grass. As if I wasn't already "that girl" based upon the fact that I was standing in my yard, taking pictures of my grass....

Hopefully I'll be showing you more shots of our front yard looking like this, in no time at all.

Have you ever been this excited about yard work? Lets here about it! Maybe then I'll sound a little more sane ; )

  6. Ha, a girl after my own heart! We spent spring break in our back yard. The grass back there is the next phase on the agenda...bermuda didn't work (too many shady areas), the zeon zoysia didn't take...I am going back to what I love...FESCUE!! I want green grass in winter due to the dogs.

  11. Your house is so pretty! And love that you're this excited over grass! I literally just commented to my fiance that I was glad our grass was growing in front of our house this morning. :)

  12. I'm right there with you, Michelle -- We're in the process of weeding/growing grass/generally doing everything the previous homeowners of our first place never did, and it makes me super excited! We got a tiny bit of much-needed rain last night, and I woke up to our backyard looking downright lush compared to what it's been looking like (dead straw). Congrats on your grass! Yay!

  13. Looks awesome! I definitely get excited about things like that! A few weekends ago we did a TON of yard work and it feels so rewarding every day when I pull up to the house. :)

  18. it's gorgeous...really, i understand the grass of it all! we had to excavate around the garage in order to have it pass inspections after it was finished and had to put the dirt...well, somewhere else. it landed all over the backyard (red clay is yukky), so it's been a long journey back to the land of fescue here, too! doesn't the body shop sell a fragrance called fresh cut grass? because that's a favorite here. :)

  19. I understand! We have had a hard time getting our lawn to green up and getting the weeds under control. Congratulations, I feel your excitement.

  20. I so get where you are coming from. Our lawn has been a struggle since we moved in our house. The other day I was thrilled to see some green popping up even if it included crab grass. :)

  21. okay this is so funny b/c I was just telling my husband how much I love the smell of fresh grass. We get excited about mowing it and gardening and such:D

  22. Oh I've been known to get excited about grass, too. (No, not that kind.)

    Your lawn is looking good!!!

I was going to plant some grass seed this week on our lawn but we're supposed to get 10-15 cm of snow tonight. What!?!??!

  23. Ha! You are so funny! I'll be happy when our grass finally turns green again this year... we STILL have snow in our yard! Ugh. Like, it snowed TODAY. blurg.

  24. I was so excited these past few weeks when the flowers (blanket daisies & black eyed susans) grew up after their long-hard winter. It was my first time seeing flowers come up from plants that I planted!

  26. Wanna know what my yard looks like Michelle? Oh wait. I don't have a yard. That's right hahaha I adore you. And am truly excited for you, promise :)

  27. Michelle,
I like the look of your blog. You've changed things. Not weird at all to excited about the green carpet. We have great grass where folks can see it but don't get me started on the backyard. The dogs have given it a makeover. Hubster is in the process of making a dog run so hopefully we will have grass, again. Your yard is looking awesome! You have a beautiful house and lot!
    Best wishes,
    ~Michelle :)
