So Fresh and So Clean, Clean

When we moved into our humble abode (I can't believe it has already been four months now!), something irked David and I... a lot. Every square inch of paintable surface (besides the walls) was painted a creamy beige color: all of the trim, all of the wood plantation blinds, all windows and windowsills, doors, crown moulding, cabinets... you get the picture. While it was super annoying to attempt to match the paint (for touch ups) to the premium custom Porter paint (ie. a $50 can of paint-- which is SO not up my alley!), we honestly just don't really like it. Then I wrote this post about how much I love painting to develop a high contrast look and we just knew that we had to do something about the beige. Step by step, we have pledged to rid our sweet little home of all of the beige!

First stop? Our bedroom.

Pretty white trim: (Please excuse the AWFUL picture quality and the fact that our duvet cover is not on the bed- hey, we were just being lazy it was laundry day! We were just super excited to get these up.)

Yes, we can all say ahhhh together! Mad props to David who layered on the white while I partied it up at my cousin's baby shower last Saturday! He's the bomb! (Yes, I realize I am the only person who has said this phrase since the year 2001!) Painted anything fun lately?

  1. I feel your pain! Our whole house was painted top to bottom in a hideous beige. It took me f-0-r-e-v-e-r to paint the window trim / door trim / baseboards / doors / railings / mouldings back to white. In fact, we're still working on the last room (4 years later). Yikes!

I wish you luck with the rest and so far it looks beautiful white. :)

  2. Thank you! I am just looking back at these pics and I can't even believe how much better it makes the wall color look... Benjamen Moore's "Pale Smoke" looked kind of baby blue on our walls and now it looks more gray-toned, like we were looking for! Sigh of relief.... :)

As far as your dresser goes, I say paint it, you will be so happy you did.

  5. Thanks guys! We are LOVE loving the white. Now I just need about 25 more arms to get the rest of the house painted to match :)

  6. Michelle, I just love your house! so cute.

My husband and I are wanting to paint our awful beige trim that the last homeowners did but wondering how hard the bottom trim by the floors is.... did you completely replace the trim or did you just paint it white? What paint did you use if you don't mind me asking? Any good suggestions would be wonderful!!

Also, how did you do the trim on the floor without getting any on the wood floors?! we have carpet so I'm wondering how big of a task that is.

    Thanks!!
