Gender Neutral Nursery E-Design

A few weeks ago, I created an e-design board for a reader who is expecting her first little one! She's since learned that she is having a little girl (congrats, Jean!) but her goal was to create a gender neutral space for her little bambino. She also had many items that she already owned or had passed down to her that she wanted to keep in the space, including an oak crib, a cross-stitched art piece and a set of blue + green fabrics. Want to see what I came up with?

Luckily, the pieces she already had (including the fabric in the top right corner, which she plans to use to make bedding for the crib) were great. I balanced the oak of the crib with several white pieces of furniture, including this precious Jenny Lind bookshelf, a white dresser/changing table and even a two-toned contemporary side table that included both white and oak.

I also incorporated a giraffe + birds theme lightly throughout the space, which adds a fun whimsical touch.  Perfect for a sweet little nursery like this!

Overall, I think my client really liked the design and I'm hoping her little girl will too!

Pssst! Did you sign up for the OPC Before/After contest? Don't forget that I'm hosting this week and will be choosing a winner of a $50 gift certificate for the best before/after project this weekend! So get your butt in gear and head on here over to enter today!

  11. Love the nursery! Question for you...what color paint did you choose for the space? I love the white with oak furniture but wondered what color would go with the white?
