The Little Things

I'm all about decorating your home with things you love. It's the best way to put a smile on your face when you walk in the room. And it really shows the true style of those who live in the home.

So when David mentioned that he'd like to hang his mom's nicknack shelf in our
living room, I thought it was a perfect idea.

This little shelf used to be on the wall at David's parent's house. His mom, Nancy, put all kinds
of fun little things on the shelf, but it was mainly filled with her thimble collection from all of the
places their family visited. When Nancy passed away in 2009, this shelf and her thimble collection
was a special thing that was passed on to David and I.

Because it's so special just as it is, I haven't made any major changes to the shelf.
Just added some fun scrapbook paper to the back of some of the shelves (haven't even glued it in,
so we can switch it out whenever we'd like!). I've also added some tiny special momentos from our nicknack
collection, in addition to some of Nancy's pieces. Can you see the old stamps with Nancy's initials? Love it.

Hopefully we'll keep adding to it, slowly but surely!

And here it is on the wall, in the corner of our living room.

Have you noticed how much love this corner has gotten lately?! Between the addition of the nesting tables, Nana's lamp, the new throw pillows and now the fun shelf, I am loving this area these days!

Sentimental, sweet and adorable. Doesn't get any better than that : )

Happy Friday friends!! Whatcha got planned this weekend?!

  18. This is so sweet! Also, so gracious of you to hang the shelf for David, even if you didn't like it--I can imagine a lot of d.i.ls who would refuse to hang it for aesthetic reasons and not realize the sentimental value. It looks so sweet in that corner =)
