Sullivan's Island: A Beach House Tour

I know I told you yesterday that I'd share some of the glitches we've encountered so far in our master bathroom renovation, but I just can't bring myself to do it tonight. I had a great day at work, a fabulous date night with David (sushi, of course!) and got to top it off with a new episode of Gossip Girl. Oh and Brad didn't kick Emily off yet- yesssss! Can't go wrong with that combo.

So I'll save the shop talk for another time.
Wednesday or Thursday, perhaps? (for those of you who like gory renovating details like me!)

On a completely different note, I've been eying lots of beautiful beach houses lately. I'm sure that seeking out the summer is a pretty normal response for many of you out there dealing with this cold, dreary January weather (and hey- I know that I can't complain too much since I'm sure many of you have it much colder than me here in Georgia!). I guess I'm just craving some good ol' sunshine.

Enter one of my favorite cities in the world- Charleston, South Carolina.

I spent four years in the holy city, earning my undergraduate degree at the College of Charleston (and maaaaybe I spent just a few hours shopping on King Street, laying out at Folly Beach and buying drinks at Blind Tiger). I loved Charleston, immensely. It's just one of the places I connected with and now I am counting down the minutes until I can someday call it my home again.

Until I'm back in South Cackalackey, I'll just drool over Charleston Magazine.

This non-traditional, Caribbean-meets-Lowcountry beach house plasters a big smile on my face. I can just taste the oysters, salt water and Lowcountry boil now!

What about any of you- craving a little beach house lately? Or, better yet, is there a city or place out there that slaps a huge grin on your face? Do share!

  15. This makes my heart hurt.

Charleston is "our city." It's where my hubby and I honeymooned, and then we went back the next year for our anniversary...stayed in the same hotel and everything.

And now that we're raising livestock, we are stuck here until we can afford to hire and train someone to take care of the farm while we are away.

We are dreaming of the day when we can go back. And seriously, when our financial planner asked us what we would do if we were rich, we said that we'd buy a vacation home there.

  18. SOOOOoooooo...would it be weird to ask you when you do move back there if I can come visit? I LOVE the photos you displayed...and to think you went to school in that environment. I can't imagine studying Organic Chemistry amid all that sun....or maybe I would have gotten an A had I. :)

    Cheers~

  23. I would love to be in a place that didn't require snow boots, hats, gloves and scarves. And that beach would definitely fit the bill.
