Baby Update

I'm interrupting today's Friday Finds to give you guys a quick update on our little pea pod. I broke the news last week but haven't had a chance to share any details yet!

As of this Sunday, I'm 15 weeks along in the pregnancy. David and I were in the "if it happens, it happens phase" so I was very surprised when I popped out of bed on December 29th at 5 AM with the outright though: wow, I'm pregnant. I guess my body just knew! I took a pregnancy test then and there, while David was outside walking the dogs. As soon as he walked back inside, he registered what he now calls my "Home Alone face"... mouth wide open, hands on my face, eyes wide. He was confused, then thought it through... "babe, did you take a pregnancy test?!" I nodded. We cried. It was wonderful.

The first trimester had a few ups and downs- all day nausea, aversions to most foods (besides saltine crackers and orange juice) and all kinds of fatigue. But as wacko as it sounds, it was kind of reassuring that my body was all wazzed up and my hormones were going crazy... that just means I was growing a healthy baby! So I certainly didn't mind it all.

Now I'm into the second trimester and I'll have to say... it feels good to feel good! Not much of my energy has returned, but I'm not feeling nauseous anymore and the food aversions have decreased. Although I almost punched David in the face the other night for reheating spaghetti leftovers... the smell made me so sick, even though I just had eaten it the night before! We had a good laugh over that one. I can promise that the no makeup, messy hair look you see in the picture above is just about par for course. Feeling a little lazy in the beauty department these days! : )

For those of you asking... yes! We are going to find out the gender. Clearly we have to be ready to plan a nursery, right?! Speaking of, I can't wait to get started on the nursery! It's not quite clear what house the nursery will be in... oh the joys of moving during pregnancy... but I'm still excited! If you follow me over on Pinterest, you've probably seen the millions of "nursery" and "baby" photos I've pinned lately. So much fun!

And if the little pea pod wasn't exciting enough, I am extremely excited to announce that I will be blogging about all things baby over on the BabyCenter blog. In fact, my first big post goes live today! You can check it out right here! Hopefully a lot of you will join me over there to talk about all things baby! : ) Feel free to let me know if you've got any topics you'd like to hear about in regards to the baby... whether over on BabyCenter or here on Ten June!

So there you have it. Baby Ten June in the houuuuuse!

  4. How exciting!!! I am 13 weeks pregnant today!! I can so relate to what you are saying...it's funny how even the thought of {or smell of} something you cooked the night before is absolutely disgusting the next day! I am still nauseas and hoping it will pass soon! But again, like you said, you are so thankful that the baby is healthy and growing :) I too can barely pull myself together on most days- I don't think I've worn make-up at all, maybe once a week if that! hehe :) I love the babycenter that's so cool you get to blog for them!

  6. What a fine looking bump! So glad the nausea phase is over, and congratulations on blogging @ BabyCenter. :) Food aversions are the worst, and some never go away... It's been 7 years since I was pregnant with my oldest, and the smell of shrimp made my super sick and I'm still only so-so on the stuff. One night when I about 20 weeks along, I came home to Mike having prepared a surprise shrimp dinner for me and I walked in, smelled it and headed straight to the bedroom where I crawled under bed to escape the smell. He found me 30 minutes later trying not to get sick. I hope you can at least enjoy your toaster strudels ;)

  8. I had the same sort of moment when I was preggo. Sitting on the couch and just suddenly, I knew I was pregnant. Bizzare. Waited a few denial-y days to pee on a stick, though ;)
