Consider My Fire Lit

This weekend, I enjoyed some much-anticipated quiet time in the form of a couple of hours at the park on Saturday morning. Armed with a pumpkin spiced latte (of course...I had to squeeze in one last pumpkin drink before the Christmas flavors take over!) and a copy of Young House Love's new book, I sat and enjoyed the weather, zoning out into the world of design.

Sounds pretty deep, right?

Well, it kind of was! As you guys know, it's been awhile since I've been inspired to work on home projects. Last February, we put our house on the market, which put a pause on a lot of our home design/renovation plans. Over the summer, I was uber pregnant and was more inspired to sit on the couch rather than complete design projects. And on August 30th, little H was born and our lives have been completely filled with sweet baby cuddles since then.

What's that? You're ready for a gratuitous adorable Baby H pic? If you twist my arm.

I know, cutest UGA bulldawg fan, ev-er.

Back to design. As I read on Saturday, I kept bookmarking pages for projects I'd like to try. Which led me to get on Pinterest, where I looked back on all of the projects I've pinned in anticipation of actually doing them. Which led me to search blogs and Pinterest for new project ideas. It was a total "if you give a mouse a cookie" syndrome. It kind of just hit me like a punch in the face- all of a sudden, I was inspired. Ready for a new project. Or twelve. It's safe to say that I think the design bug has bitten this gal in the behind!

Like any woman on a mission, I didn't waste any time. I rounded up some supplies and got started on a couple of projects. I can't wait to share the details, but until then, here are a few sneak peeks.

H Dawg says he's excited to learn about the world of do-it-yourself design. Actually, he just said "ah-goo!" but I'll translate it for you.

And by the way, so many of my ideas and project plans are for the upcoming holidays. Let's just say I'm ready to break out the Christmas tree now people! But more on that later this week : )

Needless to say, I'm pretty excited about my new found inspiration. DIY design is my passion and it feels good to get excited about it again! Now, if you'll excuse me, this inspired girl has another run to make to the fabric store.

How was your weekend? Hopefully as inspiring as mine!

  1. I felt the same after reading YHL's book. I had it on pre order, so I tracked it, and I think I looked out the window 5 times for the UPS guy that day! I will check back to see your new projects.

  2. Kudos to you for getting some alone time. It must have been divine! Also, anytime I see a bag of spray paint like that, I just get so giddy. I cannot wait to see what you do. I went to the YHL book signing this past weekend, and flipping through the book and talking to a load of DIYers waiting in line with me, I am beyond inspired too. Eeeeee! 2 Weeks of DIY frenzy before the holiday decorations come out!

  3. I can't wait to get my hands on the YHL book! I'm actually going to their book signing here in Dallas this Saturday! And you sound like I was at 2:30pm in the morning when I couldn't fall asleep. I was on Pinterest, blogs, you name it, for several hours looking up nurseries! Can't wait to see what projects you have in store!
