Feeling Inspired: Black Decor Accents

You may have noticed in this post or from some of my recent pins on Pinterest, but I'm crushing on a certain design style lately. And while it's not necessarily a new trend, it is a pretty simple one: the addition of sleek, black decor accents.

There's something about adding a crisp black piece or two to a room that brings a new level of sophistication to the space. Especially when the black is paired with a gorgeous neutral palette and a few rustic pieces. And I'm loving that, big time! In fact, you'll probably see more black accents in our living room as we continue to makeover our slate room/living room. And yes, we're still trucking along with that makeover, so stay tuned! : )

Here are some images that have really inspired me to bring some black decor accents into my home.

Whatcha think? Am I the last person to jump on the black decor accents bandwagon?!

  1. A trick a girlfriend taught me years ago was to use black candles (yes, they aren't just for Halloween anymore). It really is amazing the difference just adding a few to a room can make. She also like to have at least one significant black (or dark stained) piece to anchor a room. Lately, I've gone more neutral but would consider adding back a few pieces for fall and winter.

  3. I love how classic the addition of black makes a room feel. I'm pining over the black trim on the curtains in the second photo. It's something I've been thinking of taking on. I can't wait to see how you incorporate some black accents into your living room.

  6. My mom always told me that I should always have SOMETHING black in a room to keep it grounded. So I try to put a little something every time. Even if it is just a picture frame.

  8. I love black accents, too. I've been thinking about painting my kitchen door black, actually. Our living room door is black and it really makes it pop.

  9. I'm a huge fan - always have, always will. It's the only constant color I've had in my house in all my years of home ownership! Love a little punch of black.

  10. Love this post! We just decided to paint our exterior french doors and front door black because we love the pop black can make against white siding and brick veneer. I love these examples of black accents for interior spaces, too. (ps Love the scalloped slip covers in that one sitting area.)

  12. Hi Michelle!

I really love your blog, I've been reading for a while now, and found you via YHL. Your house is adorable, and I can't wait to see the finished nursery! I just wanted to make one quick comment in regards to your new sidebar ads, one of them is now a "video ad", and it scares the ba-jesus out of me, because I'll start reading and the ad hasn't loaded all the way way, and half way through the post I'll hear a man's voice and almost jump out of my desk chair! haha! Just thought you might find that amusing! Loving the black accents!
