Your Favorite Ten June Posts of 2013

Hey, hey, hey. I hope all of you had a great New Years Eve and spent the first day of 2014 happy as a clam! David, H and I counted down to midnight at the home of some new friends. You really can't beat fun friends with cute kiddos who live just around the corner! Even HDawg had an awesome time... he, in a seriously unbelievable turn of events, stayed up until about 12:15! This is a miracle if you know my child, who goes to bed religiously between 6-7 PM every night... or else we're all in trouble. He also took his first selfie on my cell phone, which I didn't even have any clue he knew how to do. Work it, H.

Today, though, we're going to take one last look back at 2013. Earlier this week, I shared my favorite projects from 2013. Today, I'm here to share your favorite Ten June posts of 2013. Interestingly enough, they're a totally different list! You guys love a whole bunch of random posts... which I love, because I am so random! We fit together pretty perfectly, if I do say so myself : ) Anyways, I pulled the most popular post from each month of 2013... for those of you who were around all of 2013, have fun with the blasts from the past. And for those of you who are new around here, welcome to my random world. : )

February: I celebrated the season of love with some sappy DIY Valentine's Day art ideas.

March: We moved into our first rental home and you guys were big fans of our "before" kitchen tour.

April: I shared more of our new rental house tour, including the "before" bathroom tours. What's funny to me is that the before bathroom tour was more popular than the bathroom makeover post!

May: I broke down my all-natural skincare routine, including a list of some of my favorite skincare products.

June: Our house didn't sell. Again.

July: I tinkered around our new rental house and made a few small, renter-friendly updates.

August: The new Ikea catalog came out and I shared my favorite Swedish picks.

September: I announced that I am pregnant with baby bean #2! I shared the details on my new pregnancy in a post right here.

October: We moved again! I tinkered around my new living room and added a few cozy fall accessories.

November: I created and shared a yummy crock-pot, slow-cooker loaded potato soup recipe. Word to your mother, that soup is GOOD.

December: I shared our rustic + metallic Christmas mantel and we partied it up link style.

See what I mean? The most popular posts are a mix of all different sorts of DIY, life and fun home projects. Exactly what my life is, if you ask me! I can't wait to share more of that crazy randomness with you in 2014!

Favorite DIY Posts from 2013

Guys, thank you so, so much for your sweet support and kind words about my big news yesterday. It was a really huge, somewhat scary decision for David and I to make and it felt even scarier to actually share it with the world. Needless to say, you guys made me feel great about everything and I truly, truly appreciate that. I'm looking forward to 2014 and all of the big changes ahead of me!

Before I go too crazy tonight popping that grape juice bubbly and belting out a few stellar verses of "Auld Lang Syne,"  I thought it'd be fun to look back on some of my favorite DIY posts from 2013. Later this week, I'll share your favorite Ten June posts from the year. These just so happen to be some of my favorite do-it-yourself projects that I tackled throughout the two-oh-one-three.

I still can't say enough good things about that aquarium felt magnet board, it's one of my favorite DIY projects I've ever done! If you're looking for more ideas, check out my favorite 2012 DIY projects- there was a lot of good stuff going on that year, as well!

See you in 2014, friends! Happy New Year!

Confessions From a New Mom's Closet

This might sound a little superficial, but one of my main resolutions for 2013 is to get my butt in gear when it comes to all things fashion. With our house still on the market, it's hard to set home goals, so, instead, I decided to set a few personal goals to ring in the two-oh-thirteen.

Goal number one? Stop dressing like a new mom. For realz.

I am telling myself that it is no longer appropriate to wear clothing in public that could double as pajamas. If I want to wear it to bed, it doesn't need to be seen outside of the house. And my maternity clothes? Um, four months post-partum... it's time to stop wearing those. And that includes the size-too-big granny panties I bought to accommodate my pregnant rear. I am not allowed to wear those anymore. Yeah, I just talked about my underwear in front of thousands of people. That happened.

I should point out that I have lost all of my pregnancy weight, so I don't have any excuse not to move forward post-partum. I blame the quick weight loss on gestational diabetes and HDawg's dairy sensitivity... and maybe breastfeeding in general... but I was back in my regular jeans within a couple weeks of delivery. I know, you can hate me. But the point is that I have zero reason to still be wearing the slouchy stretch shirts that I donned with a big ol' belly, that's for sure.

So, in 2013, I will be attempting to dress well. I am still nursing H, so it's going to be a chore to find fashionable clothes that can adapt to nursing. Not to mention clothing that can wear spit up and wear it well (and no, I'm not talking to you, awesome silk shirt that I saw at the mall!). Like all things I do, my new fashion mission will be done on a budget... a la Target, Old Navy, Forever 21, etc. I gots to look fly on a dime, yo. In addition to being cheap, I want to be funky. And apparently lame, for using words like funky. But seriously, I want to try new things with my clothes, like the way I mixed the random patterns + colors in the photo above. If they look stupid, just forgive me... it was my first attempt at looking cool. Oh, and I'm going to try and reinvent a lot of the clothing I already have. Which means I probably need to pare down my wardrobe and spend some time donating the old crap to Goodwill. Wow, this is turning into quite the resolution, right?

Thank goodness I have a few fashionable friends here in the ol' blog world, like Michaela, Cassie, Natalie, Anna and Natasha. I will absolutely be looking to them and their blogs for ideas! If you've got any other down-to-earth (read: attainable styles!) fashion bloggers to follow, leave their blogs in the comments. I'm totally digging any inspiration I can get my hands on these days.

So that's it. One of my bigger personal resolutions for 2013. To look hawt.
